Hawker 800XP with Universal Avionics Insight Displays

Hawkers equipped with Honeywell SPZ-8000 avionics have a modernization path to upgrade obsolete displays with InSight™

Tucson, Arizona – June 11, 2024 Universal Avionics (UA), an Elbit Systems Company, today announces that the InSight™ Display System is now available as a modification for Hawker 800 models equipped with Honeywell SPZ-8000 avionics. The FAA granted the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) amendment for the modification, completed by Southeast Aerospace (SEA).

The InSight Display System brings a glass cockpit experience and advanced navigation to modernize Hawker 800 series aircraft. The upgrade replaces legacy CRT displays, resolving maintenance and repair challenges while improving functionality and situational awareness. The InSight installation on the Hawker 800XP includes three high-resolution displays and two touchscreen-enabled control displays, integrating with the Universal FMS to enable Data Communications and LPV approaches.

“The multiple EFIS displays are large and easy to navigate, with an endless amount of information readily available to flight crews,” says Ashley Smith Jr. (ATP-ME, DPE-ATP-TYPE, A&P/IA, DAR-T, CAM), President/Director of Operations and Maintenance at Jet Logistics. “The system’s state-of-the-art capabilities combined with the best mid-sized airframe ever built is an unbeatable combination – the best value in the market.”

"The Universal Avionics InSight upgrade has proven popular with Hawker 800 operators," says Luke Gomoll, Aircraft Modification Sales Representative at Southeast Aerospace. "Expanding available STCs to cover the 800XP with Honeywell avionics is a major step forward, providing an even wider range of aircraft owners the opportunity to future-proof their investment while giving these aircraft new life."

Key benefits of the InSight Display System for Hawker 800/A/B/XP operators include:

  • Increased payload and efficiency: Provides an additional 250+ lbs. (113 kg.) of payload, enables LPV and RNP approaches down to 0.3nm to expand the range of airports where precision approaches can be performed, and saves 15 minutes or more on a typical flight with CPDLC Departure Clearances.

  • Enhanced situational awareness: Cutting-edge, 3D synthetic vision system combined with advanced safety features for traffic, weather, and terrain improve situational awareness in critical situations.

  • NextGen compliance: Meet airspace requirements for FANS 1/A+, CPDLC, and ATN B1.

  • Simplified workload: High-resolution displays enhance clarity and readability, with intuitive touch control to reduce crew workload. The integrated FMS enables graphical flight planning and streamlines operations.

"The combination of SEA's expertise and the InSight system provides a sustainable avionics solution with significant long-term savings," says Dror Yahav, CEO of Universal Avionics. "This upgrade solidifies the status of Hawker 800 series aircraft as a highly capable business jet for years to come."
